Madawaska Valley is a rural Renfrew County township anchored by Barry's Bay at the north end of Kamaniskeg Lake, Combermere at the southern end where the Madawaska River exits the lake, and Wilno on Highway 60 — founded in 1858 as Canada's first Polish settlement. St.

Mary's Church on the Wilno hilltop is the visual centre of Polish Kashub heritage in Canada, with the Wilno Heritage Park interpreting the immigration story in the hamlet below. South at Combermere, Madonna House (founded 1947 by Catherine Doherty) runs as a Catholic lay community and active pilgrimage destination with a public chapel, gift shop, and gardens.

The township sits immediately east of Algonquin Provincial Park's eastern boundary — Barry's Bay is the closest service town for east-side park access on Highway 60, with outfitting, groceries, and fuel. In-municipality water is the upper Madawaska River system: Bark Lake (a managed reservoir on the Madawaska, controlled by an Ontario Power Generation dam at its south end) and the long north-south Kamaniskeg Lake supply paddling, fishing, sailing, and houseboating; FMZ 15 lake trout, walleye, smallmouth bass, and pike fisheries run across the lake system.

The famous Madawaska whitewater (Palmer Rapids, Madawaska River Provincial Park) sits downstream in adjacent municipality and is out of strict in-township scope.
