Renfrew.

Renfrew is an Ottawa Valley town on the lower Bonnechere River, sitting where the river drops through downtown chutes toward its confluence with the Ottawa River about 5 km downstream. The town's heritage backbone runs through the circa-1855 McDougall Mill — a stone grist mill on the south bank of the Bonnechere now operated as a community museum — and the Champlain Trail Museum / Pioneer Village on the eastern edge of town, both of which interpret the lumber-trade and settler history of the lower valley.

Renfrew also carries a Stanley Cup-era hockey backstory: the Renfrew Millionaires of the National Hockey Association played the 1909–10 and 1910–11 seasons here, bankrolled by lumber baron M.J. O'Brien and signing Cyclone Taylor, Frank and Lester Patrick, and Newsy Lalonde — Hall-of-Famers in a small-town lineup that never won a Stanley Cup.

The Algonquin Trail — the eastern segment of the Ottawa Valley Recreational Trail on the former Canadian Pacific Railway corridor — runs through Renfrew with a town trailhead, linking eastward toward Smiths Falls and westward toward Mattawa. Ma-te-Way Park, the municipal recreation complex on the Bonnechere, anchors local trails and the twin-pad arena.
