Freshwater Fishing.

The Bay of Quinte off Trenton is a recognized walleye fishery — the western end of the bay concentrates pre-spawn walleye into the Trent River mouth in late fall, and the winter ice fishery off the Trenton waterfront pulls anglers through January and February. Bay of Quinte Walleye World, a long-running tournament, operates out of Trent Port Marina.

Freshwater Fishing in Quinte West
01 — What to know

The brief.

Bay of Quinte walleye fishing is the regional draw — open-water trophy walleye from Trent Port Marina, the Trenton waterfront, and the Murray Canal mouth from October to ice-up, then ice fishing on the bay through winter (conditions permitting). Beyond walleye, the Trent River through Trenton, Frankford, and Glen Miller carries year-round smallmouth and largemouth bass, northern pike, and muskie; the Murray Canal adds sheltered bass water.

Bay of Quinte waters are governed by Ontario's Fisheries Management Zone 20 with Bay-specific walleye seasons and slot limits — anglers must consult the current Ontario Fishing Regulations Summary before fishing, and the Bay of Quinte regulations differ from the rest of FMZ 20.
