Freshwater Fishing.

Crowe Lake is the township's marquee fishery — walleye, smallmouth and largemouth bass, northern pike, muskellunge, bluegill, and yellow perch under Fisheries Management Zone 17, with a Crowe Lake / Crowe River walleye-season exception that runs January 1 to March 1 and the 2nd Saturday of May through December 31 — extending the open season into a winter window beyond the FMZ 17 zone-wide walleye closure.

01 — What to know

The brief.

FMZ 17 covers the Kawartha Lakes, Trent, and Crowe River watersheds and sits within the Southern Bait Management Zone — bait restrictions apply on movement into and out of the zone. The Crowe Lake / Crowe River walleye exception adds the January 1–March 1 winter window and extends the open season to December 31, with daily limits of S-4 (sport licence) and C-1 (conservation licence) and a protected slot — no fish 37–55 centimetres may be retained.

Zone-wide rules cover the rest: smallmouth and largemouth bass open the 3rd Saturday of June through December 15 (S-6 / C-2), muskellunge 1st Saturday of June through December 15 (S-1 / C-0), northern pike open all year (S-6 / C-2), and lake trout 4th Saturday of April through September 30 (S-3 / C-1). Public access in the township routes through three municipal boat launches — Booster Park on Crowe Lake, Mag's Landing on the Crowe River at the lake outlet, and Legion Park downtown.
