Lake Simcoe's winter ice surface — accessed from Tudhope Park on the Orillia side — is one of Ontario's largest sustained snowmobile and ice-fishing surfaces, anchoring a January-through-March season alongside the Couchiching Beach Park outdoor rink (when conditions allow) and the snow-cleared Lightfoot Trail along the Lake Couchiching waterfront.

Lake Simcoe ice anchors the winter season — ice-fishing huts go up across FMZ 16 once the lake firms in January, and snowmobile trails connect across the open ice surface. The Tudhope Park access is the main city-side entry.
Couchiching Beach Park hosts an outdoor rink some winters, dependent on conditions, and the Lightfoot Trail's paved surface is cleared in central downtown sections through the winter. Snowshoeing inside the city is informal — the lakefront network and the Uhthoff Trail rail-trail are the easiest options.
Serious nordic skiing terrain sits at Hardwood Hills in adjacent Oro-Medonte, not inside the City of Orillia itself.
