Cycling.

The same rail-trail network that carries walking carries Heritage River cycling: the Cambridge to Paris Rail Trail, the SC Johnson Trail south to Brantford, and the 47-kilometre Elora Cataract Trailway from Elora to Cataract. Together they thread a near-continuous gravel/paved spine the length of the Grand, accessible from every major town on the watershed.

Cycling in Grand River
01 — What to know

The brief.

Most of the spine is non-motorized rail trail with packed gravel, comfortable on a gravel or hybrid bike. Best season is May through October; the Cambridge to Paris and SC Johnson sections stay rideable into shoulder season.

Long-distance cycling along the Grand pairs naturally with overnight stops in Elora, Paris, Cambridge, or Brantford — each anchors its own section of the watershed. The Grand Valley Trail itself is foot-traffic-priority; cycling is permitted on segments but not all.
