Freshwater Fishing.
The eastern Georgian Bay shore from Port Severn north sits inside Fisheries Management Zone 15 — a recreational fishery for walleye, northern pike, smallmouth bass, and lake trout. The Severn River, Six Mile Lake, and McCrae Lake carry inland fishing in the same zone, and the Township's marina-end at Honey Harbour anchors open-water boat fishing into the 30,000 Islands.
The brief.
An Ontario fishing licence is required and FMZ 15 regulations apply — open seasons, slot limits, and possession rules differ by species. Walleye season in FMZ 15 typically runs early May through mid-November with size and bag limits per the Ontario Fishing Regulations Summary.
Smallmouth bass open in late June. Lake trout regulations are stricter and zone-specific.
Always check current-year regulations before fishing. Honey Harbour is the launch point for open-water Georgian Bay; sheltered options for shore and small-boat fishing concentrate on Six Mile Lake and the Severn River reaches.
