The brief.

Skydive SWOOP is a volunteer-run nonprofit dropzone based at 461 Highway 5 West in Dundas, Ontario, operating since 1979. Located on the Niagara Escarpment near Hamilton, the site is the closest dropzone to the Greater Toronto Area, with views over Lake Ontario and the Hamilton skyline from altitude. The operation runs tandem skydives for first-timers, a ten-jump Progressive Freefall (PFF) program for those pursuing solo certification, and facilities for licensed jumpers. CSPA licensing or equivalent is required for experienced skydivers using the dropzone. The season runs from late April through late October, with weekend and holiday jumping until sunset and weekday operations by appointment.

    Tandem Skydive

    For: First-time and occasional jumpersWhen: Late April–late October

    Two altitude options: a 7,500 ft 'Starter' jump and a 10,500 ft 'Full Altitude' jump. Freefall lasts 35–45 seconds followed by a 5–6 minute canopy descent. Open to participants over 50 with no upper age limit specified; weight surcharges apply above 220 lbs. Add-on media packages include hand-cam ($150), outside video ($200), or combined Rockstar package ($300).

    Progressive Freefall (PFF) Course

    For: Adults 18–50 pursuing solo skydiving certificationWhen: Late April–late October

    Ten-jump progressive training program beginning with ground school, then Levels 1–10 building toward solo certification. Includes student gear rental and a complimentary SWOOP Jumper Membership on completion. Students must complete their first jump within 30 days of ground school. Maximum weight 220 lbs.

    Media Packages

    For: Tandem participants wanting photo/videoWhen: Late April–late October

    Optional capture services added to a tandem jump. Hand-cam is filmed by the tandem instructor; outside video is shot by a second jumper exiting alongside; the Rockstar package combines both for full coverage of the experience.
