Paddling — Flatwater.
Kelso Reservoir is Conservation Halton's headline non-motorized paddling water — a quiet escarpment-shadowed reservoir with rentals on a designated paddling beach. Mountsberg Reservoir at the western edge of Milton adds a larger, quieter paddling surface with the Raptor Centre nearby.
The brief.
Both Kelso and Mountsberg are non-motorized only, run within standard CH park entry, and offer rental canoes, kayaks, and SUPs at the Kelso paddling beach. Reservations are required at Kelso on peak summer weekends.
The water is calm enough for first-time paddlers; the escarpment behind Kelso gives the reservoir a sheltered feel. May through October is the standard window.
Personal flotation devices are mandatory. Sixteen Mile Creek and the smaller in-town water bodies do not support meaningful flatwater paddling at scale.
