01 — Abstract

Bracebridge is built around Bracebridge Falls on the North Branch of the Muskoka River — the urban centre of the District of Muskoka, with the Silver Bridge crossing the falls in the downtown core. Three named waterfalls sit within five minutes of the centre — Bracebridge Falls (downtown), Wilson's Falls (461 Wilsons Falls Road), and Muskoka High Falls (Cedar Lane Exit of Highway 11, about 6 km north) — strung along the Trans Canada Trail spine that runs through town.

North of town along the river, the Bracebridge Resource Management Centre carries 19 km of multi-use hiking and MORCA-built singletrack in summer and 16.5 km of groomed classic-and-skate ski trail in winter, free to use. Lake Muskoka opens at the river mouth south of town, with municipal access at Kirby's Beach Park, Annie Williams Memorial Park, and Bracebridge Bay Park.

Less than two hours from the GTA via Highway 11.

  1. 01Bracebridge is widely styled the "waterfall capital of Muskoka" with three named waterfalls within roughly five minutes of downtown — Bracebridge Falls (Silver Bridge / 39 Wharf Road), Wilson's Falls (461 Wilsons Falls Road), and High Falls (Cedar Lane Exit of Highway 11) — all on the North Branch of the Muskoka River.Source ↗
  2. 02The Bracebridge Resource Management Centre, north of town along the Muskoka River, has 19 km of multi-use trail in summer (hiking and mountain biking) and 16.5 km of groomed classic-and-skate cross-country ski trail in winter — managed by the Town of Bracebridge with volunteer support, free to use.Source ↗
  3. 03The MORCA-built singletrack at the BRMC ranges from green flow trails to double-black diamond with technical Canadian Shield rock features; trails are multi-use, shared with cross-country skiers, hikers, and snowshoers.Source ↗
  4. 04The High Falls Picnic Area (30 Brodie Crescent) sits on the Trans Canada Trail within a 239-hectare natural area and provides access to four named falls — Pott's Falls, Muskoka Canyon Falls, Little High Falls, and Big High Falls.Source ↗
