Paddling — Flatwater.
The Bonnechere River runs west-to-east through Bonnechere Valley township as the obvious paddling spine — flatwater stretches connect through Eganville and east toward Fourth Chute, where named river chutes mark portage points just upstream of the Bonnechere Caves. Constant Lake supplies a quiet flatwater alternative inland, and Round Lake on the eastern boundary opens onto larger water toward Bonnechere Provincial Park downstream.
The brief.
The Bonnechere through the township is flatwater for the most part, broken by the named chutes — Fourth Chute is the most prominent and sits immediately above the Bonnechere Caves, requiring a portage. Constant Lake is the easiest stand-alone in-municipality flatwater paddle and stays sheltered in most wind conditions.
Round Lake straddles the eastern boundary; the Bonnechere Provincial Park section of the river sits beyond the township boundary in adjacent municipality and is not claimed as in-Bonnechere-Valley paddling. Best season is mid-May through October; spring high water can complicate the chute portages.
Eganville's Centennial Park on the river offers a village put-in.
